Mary Baker Eddy

Mary Baker Eddy discovered and founded Christian Science. She was born in New Hampshire in 1821 and raised in a devout Congregational family.

Mary was healed of a life threatening injury in 1866 while reading the Bible. This gave her marvelous insight into how Jesus healed. Her entire life was transformed. Mary shared and verified her discovery by healing and teaching others to heal.

Her major book was published in 1875, which explains how Bible truths heal. Mary then organized a Church in 1879 and became one of the most recognized and respected Americans in the world before she died in 1910.

Mary continues to be valued in and out of her Church for her contributions to humanity and in 1998 was voted as one of the most important religious leaders of the 20th century. Mary was also inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in America.
